Please accept this letter and accompanying information as our request for sponsorship of the first Northern Ontario First Nations Communications Conference.

This unique First Nations Communications Conference will be the fi rst of its kind to address First Nations communication modes, issues, infrastructure, best practices, trends and opportunities in northern Ontario.

Conference objectives include but not limited to the following:

• Identification of the state of northern Ontario Aboriginal languages;
• Development of a strategy to preserve, maintain and enhance Ojibway, Oji-Cree and Cree languages;
• Increased knowledge of existing and upcoming communications infrastructure in northern Ontario that will impact First Nations;
• Identification of ways communications tools can be used effectively;
• How to manage communications in a crisis;
• Awareness of careers in media programs and communications;
• Awareness of modes of communications including how to set up a community radio station and radio broadcasting online; and
• Development of an understanding of what public relations is.
